Talent.Risk.Innovation

These three factors are critical for economic vitality – which is precisely why experts regard a vibrant arts scene as an indicator of a city’s economic potential. Additionally, USA Today, The New York Times and The Washington Post report that cities sporting a high percentage of artists, writers and musicians are more apt to attract and retain young professionals in all fields. Thus, Swine Palace’s longstanding commitment to Baton Rouge is more noteworthy than ever.

As a professional Equity theatre production company, Swine Palace relies on the talent of our actors, designers and technicians and their willingness to take calculated risks in the pursuit of innovative performances. Our productions are homegrown. Our team works here, on the ground in Baton Rouge to create productions rather than import them from New York, Chicago or Los Angeles by bus and truck.

Consequently, most of our production budget is spent locally. And, as much as we pride ourselves in employing Louisiana born and or trained artists, we take greater satisfaction in providing university students who, were it not for our organization’s commitment to education and training, might drift out of state permanently. One of only 15 professional theatres nationwide attached to a university, Swine Palace’s mere presence demonstrates Baton Rouge’s potential to be a cultural hub.

Moreover, with an estimated economic impact of $600,000 per year, we are a strong but silent economic driver that enriches local coffers while contributing to our region’s quality of life.

As Swine Palace grows, so will the local economy. Because we are a non-profit, we rely upon the commitment of our patrons and friends to ensure our fiscal stability. Your financial support (in the form of a tax deductible gift or sponsorship) will move us forward and keep ticket prices within reach of ordinary citizens and area schoolchildren.

Consider this your open invitation to join the Swine Palace company.
